Please be aware that the surgery is open and functioning as normal, albeit with some changes put into place.
Information from the Government is updated daily, and new information requires GP practices to treat any patients who require a hospital admission (even without a travel history to an at risk country) who present with symptoms pneumonia confirmed clinically or from a chest x-ray, symptoms of respiratory distress or influenza like symptoms, to be treated as a potential COVID-19 case. This means that the patient is required to be isolated in the GP room, and for the practice to notify the local PHE Health Protection Team, and to seek specialist advice from a local microbiologist, virologist or infectious diseases physician. The practice will also need to contact Public Health England and 111 for advice.
You may be wondering what this means for you?
If you have made a pre-booked appointment at the surgery, or are required to collect a prescription, AND have symptoms of a cough, cold, shortness of breath or fever, please call the surgery to CANCEL your face to face appointment and arrange for a telephone consultation with a GP.
If you have symptoms a cough, cold, shortness of breath or fever, regardless of your age and medical background, or have travelled from an at risk country, please do not attend the surgery and contact 111 online instead.
If you are then required to see a GP following 111 advice please do not attend the surgery and contact reception instead. You will be added to a telephone triage list for a GP to contact you to advise if you are suitable to be seen in the surgery or managed elsewhere.
Please work with the receptionist, and be aware that if a reason is not provided for making an appointment, we cannot offer you an appointment. This is to ensure we minimize the risk of spreading the virus in the practice. If you have an objection to sharing the reason for your appointment, you can ring the surgery for a telephone appointment to discuss with a doctor.
Please keep yourselves updated on our website or using the Gov.uk website
We hope to resume back to our normal booking process once the risk of Coronavirus exposure passes.
